Charlotte May Peichl, 87, of Batavia, formerly of Aurora, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017. She was born On May 1, 1929 in Lomira, Wisconsin the daughter of the late Fred and Margaret (Tolzman) Grantman.
Charlotte married George Peichl on September 6, 1952. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from North Central College and subsequently earned a Master of Music from Northwestern University. Charlotte and George lived in Aurora, IL for many years, but most recently Charlotte has been residing at the Holmstad in Batavia, IL.
For many years, Charlotte and George had season tickets for the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and their beloved Northwestern University football team. They especially loved to travel throughout Europe.
Charlotte was employed at North Central College as an Instructor of Music from 1965-1975. She also worked at Aurora University where she served as the Music Department Chair; Associate Professor of Music and Associate Professor Emeritus of Music from 1974-1994.
Charlotte was a soprano soloist, pianist and organist throughout the Chicago area as well as at First Church of Christ Scientist in Aurora, Illinois.
Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Ellen (Mark) Peterson, of Fairfax Station, VA; her son, Dan (Holly) Peichl, of Dexter, IA; four grandchildren, Timothy Peterson, of Fairfax, VA, Joel (Samantha) Peterson, of Jersey City, New Jersey, David (Jenna) Peterson, of Fairfax, VA and Alexander Peichl, of Ames, IA; a step granddaughter, Lilian McCanlies, of Dexter, IA and a step grandson, Cameron McCanlies, of Ames, IA. Also surviving is her brother, Roger Grantman, of Hawthorne, Florida and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
No services are scheduled. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Lomira, Wisconsin.
